Applications

Products by Application

Start with the application — cartons, pallets, bags, containers, closures or another security challenge — and then find the appropriate construction.

Security needs vary across industries. Searching by application means you do not have to know which label, seal or tape you need first: identify what has to be secured, and the right construction follows.

You know the pack, the process or the failure point, but not the product. Use the list below.

What needs securing?

Grouped by the type of pack or asset, not by product code. Each link goes to the application page and the constructions used for it. These are examples of applications we have specified — not a fixed catalogue, and not the limit of what can be secured.

Application not listed, or it sits across several of these? Send us the pack and the Security Lab will specify it.

How an application gets specified

What are you trying to secure, and where does it fail?

Every application we specify comes down to the same five variables. If you can answer these, the construction usually narrows to one or two options.

1. The surface

What the seal actually goes onto: film, coated board, recycled fibre, painted metal, powder coating, glass, textured plastic. Surface energy and cleanliness decide whether the void triggers reliably.

2. The closure point

Where interference would have to happen — a carton seam, a bag mouth, a lid, a door, a cassette, a returnable tote. Sealing the wrong point is the most common design fault we see.

3. The journey

Temperature at application and in transit, humidity, handling, abrasion, stacking, how many touchpoints, and how long the seal must stay legible.

4. The attack

What is credible in your operation: slow peel, blade, heat, cold, solvent, moisture, or substitution of the label itself. This drives the security level, not the price list.

5. The check

Who looks at the seal on arrival, what they record, and whether numbering or barcodes need to tie back to your systems. Unchecked seals deliver very little.

Tamper evidence or authentication?

Tamper evidence shows a pack has been opened. Authentication shows an item is genuine. Many applications need both, specified deliberately rather than assumed.

Applications in context

Four groups of application that behave very differently, and what changes in the specification.

Logistics, warehousing and 4PL

High volume through multiple touchpoints, with cargo staged unattended. Carton and pallet seams are sealed with security tape so a slit or lift is visible at receipt; numbering or barcodes let the seal be recorded against the consignment. The decision point is usually machine application speed and the board surface.

Aviation and airside

In-flight supplies, catering trolleys, cabin doors and life vests. Non-residue constructions are normal here because equipment must be left clean, and duty free liquids use tamper-evident bags. Requirements are set by the operator and the relevant aviation authority; we specify to that requirement rather than interpret it for you.

Retail, e-commerce and returns

Parcels, returns and worn-item fraud. Bag tape and box tape make a first opening visible, external tags make a used garment non-returnable, and numbered labels give the returns desk something to check. The hardest variable is usually a low surface energy poly mailer.

Pharmaceutical, clinical and cold chain

Vials, cartons, totes, controlled-drug transfers and clinical samples, often chilled or frozen. Application temperature and adhesive performance at temperature dominate the specification, alongside numbering that supports chain-of-custody records.
