Non residue tamper evident labels reveal clear signs of interference while leaving no adhesive residue on the surface. When removal is attempted the top layer separates and exposes a hidden tamper message, but the adhesive stays on the label, not your product.
Also known as no transfer labels, they suit sensitive surfaces, luxury packaging, electronic devices, returns management and retail applications where residue could cause damage, complaints or product devaluation.

What happens when the label is interfered with
The label is built as a separating construction. Applied, it looks like an ordinary printed label. Lifted, the surface layer splits from the adhesive layer and an irreversible message such as VOID or OPENED appears within the label itself. It cannot be hidden, reversed or reused, and no adhesive is transferred to the surface underneath.

Non residue labels are supplied for hand application, semi automatic dispensing or fully automatic application, and we specify the format and construction to match how you work.
Hand application
Supplied on rolls, sheets or as singles for manual sealing at pack, dispatch or inspection points.
Semi automatic
Dispenser fed formats for repeat sealing where volumes are higher but the line is not fully automated.
Fully automatic
Reel formats compatible with automatic applicators and modern packing lines. We confirm reel, core and layout details with your machine specification.

Selection, testing and limits
Choosing non-residue, testing it and what it does not prove
Non-residue is a behaviour, not a grade. It lifts cleanly and the security message stays on the label, so the record travels with the label rather than the pack. That is the right behaviour for some workflows and the wrong one for others.
When non-residue is the right choice
- The pack, asset or door must be left unmarked after an authorised opening.
- The seal is checked and replaced routinely, so a clean surface matters more than a mark left behind.
- The label itself is the record — a dual number tab lets the number be retained and the used label kept as evidence.
- The surface is reused: tote boxes, trolleys, cabinets, vehicles and returnable transit items.
When to choose a different construction
- You need the evidence to stay on the pack after removal — specify a permanent construction, where the VOID or custom security message transfers to the surface.
- The surface is textured, dusty, powder-coated, low surface energy or freshly cleaned with solvent — bond behaviour must be trialled before it is specified.
- The pack is paper or board and must stay in a single recycling stream — a paper construction is the closer fit.
- The item is small or curved beyond the label footprint — a smaller format or a dumbbell shape suits vials and necks better.
What to test before you commit
- Apply to the real substrate, not a flat sample panel, and leave it for the dwell time your process actually allows.
- Attempt removal at the coldest and warmest temperature the pack sees, including after any chilled or transit stage.
- Confirm the security message and any number or barcode stay legible and scannable after handling, gloves and abrasion.
- Run the application method you will use in production — hand, applicator or line — and check registration and waste.
What tamper evidence does not prove
- It shows that the seal was interfered with. It does not confirm what is inside the pack or that nothing was accessed by another route.
- Numbering is only evidence if the number is recorded at seal and checked at receipt. Without that record it is decoration.
- These are tamper-evident constructions, not tamper-proof. The value is a clear, checkable signal at the point of inspection.
- A clean, undisturbed seal is a reason to accept a consignment quickly; it is not a substitute for your own goods-in checks.
