Aircraft Catering Trolley Security Labels

Sealing catering trolleys so the cabin crew can see, at a glance, whether a trolley has been opened since it left the catering unit.

A trolley is loaded, sealed and then travels through a catering facility, a truck, a ramp and a hold before anyone opens it in the cabin. Nobody along that route is watching it continuously.

A numbered non-residue seal across the trolley closure turns that gap into a simple check: the seal is present, its number matches the loading record, and it is undisturbed. Anything else is an exception raised before service starts.

What interference should reveal

Opened before the cabin, or not

The seal does not stop a trolley being opened. It stops an opened trolley being presented as sealed.

Sealed and numbered

The seal is applied across the latch at the catering unit and its consecutive number is recorded against the trolley and the flight.

Interference attempted

Security cuts mean the label tears at a known point instead of lifting away, so partial attempts still show.

Evidence remains

The void message appears in the label and it cannot be re-applied. A replacement seal carries a different number.

Non-residue labels

The standard choice for aircraft equipment: they void within the label and leave the trolley surface clean, so trolleys go straight back into service without cleaning. Non-residue labels.

Getting it onto the aircraft

Applying at the catering unit

Seals are supplied on rolls so one operator can apply and record a seal per trolley in a few seconds. Format and size are chosen for the latch geometry you actually use.

Surfaces and temperature

Trolleys are stainless or coated aluminium and often chilled. Confirm the surface and the application temperature — a seal applied to a cold, damp trolley needs a construction specified for it.

Recording and reconciliation

Consecutive numbers let loading records, uplift sheets and cabin checks reconcile against the same reference. Barcodes remove transcription errors where trolleys are scanned.

Cabin crew check

Keep the check to three questions: seal present, number as recorded, label undisturbed. Anything else is reported rather than judged in the galley.
