Pharmacy and controlled drugs application
Tamper Evident Labels for Controlled Drug Totes
A numbered, non-residue seal for controlled drug and prescription totes, so every handover can be checked before the lid is opened.
Totes move controlled drugs, prescriptions and patient packs between dispensary, hub, courier, ward and care home. A tamper evident label applied across the lid and clip gives each movement a recorded reference, and shows a clear VOID message if the seal is lifted. Because the adhesive is non-residue, the tote goes straight back into circulation.

Where visible verification is needed
Sealed, moved, checked
The seal does not stop a tote being opened. It makes an opened tote impossible to present as unopened at the next handover.
01
Sealed and recorded
The label is applied across the lid and clip as the tote is closed, and its number is written into the register or dispatch record.
02
Handed over
Driver, ward or receiving site checks the seal is intact and that the number matches the paperwork before signing.
03
Evidence remains
If the label has been lifted or removed, a bold VOID message shows in the label and it cannot be re-laid cleanly or replaced with the same number.
Tamper behaviour
Intact, interfered with, evidence
The same tote label on the roll, applied to a tote, and after an attempt to remove it.

Tamper behaviour
What the construction does
Void on removal
Lifting or removing the label reveals a repeated VOID message across the label face. The change is irreversible.
Non-residue release
The label releases cleanly from the tote, so reusable totes are not scraped, cleaned or taken out of service.
Numbered and scannable
Consecutive numbering, barcodes or QR codes let a specific seal be tied to a register entry, route or delivery record.
Writeable surface
Ward, route, date or initials can be written on the label in biro at the point of sealing.
One application step
A single label replaces a pull-tight seal plus a separate identification sticker.
Adhesive to suit the tote
Constructions are selected for the tote material and for ambient or chilled conditions.
The underlying constructions are in the non-residue label range, with print, numbering and die-cut options in custom tamper evident labels.
Application and integration
Applying the seal in a dispensary or hub
Applied by hand
Sealed at the bench in a couple of seconds as the tote is closed, with no change to the packing sequence.
Automatic application
Available on rolls for print-and-apply or automatic applicators. Tell us the applicator, the line speed and the application point.
Sized to the tote
Die-cut to suit the lid, clip or handle area of the totes you already use, so the seal spans the opening.
Where it is used
Controlled drug and prescription workflows
- Controlled drug movements — A numbered seal on the tote alongside the register entry, so the receiving site can check the seal and the number together.
- Prescription home delivery — Sealed for driver dispatch, with the seal number recorded against the delivery for the audit trail.
- Ward returns — A fresh seal applied for the return leg, so custody is evidenced in both directions.
- Hub and spoke distribution — Consistent visible evidence between hub, spoke pharmacies and couriers.
- High value stock transfers — Totes carrying high-value or high-risk stock between sites.
- Wider tote box security — The same approach applied to logistics and retail tote circulation.
Whether a seal satisfies a particular SOP, register process or regulatory expectation depends on your own procedures and application. Tell us the requirement and we will confirm what we can support and evidence.

Next step
Specifying a controlled drug tote seal
Known requirement
You know the tote type, the numbering requirement and the volume, and want samples or a quotation.
Not sure what you need?
Send us a tote or a photo of one. We will test constructions against the lid and clip area and specify the seal, numbering and application with you.
