How it works

What a sealed load actually does

Tamper evident tape and labels are separating constructions. Once applied, any attempt to open, peel back or re-seal splits the layers and exposes a permanent VOID message. They deter and reveal interference; they are not a physical barrier.

Getting it right

Practical points before you roll out

Match the construction to the surface

Corrugated board, plastic totes, stretch wrap and shrink film all behave differently. Total transfer constructions leave the message on the carton, non transfer options leave the surface clean. Test on your actual packaging before committing to volume.

Decide where the seal is applied

Hand, dispenser, semi automatic or automatic case sealer. Application point drives roll format, core size and web width, and whether numbering can be captured at the same station as the despatch scan.

Write the check into the SOP

Tamper evidence only pays back if goods-in knows what to do when a seal is voided. Surface printed instructions, site codes and multi-language wording make the procedure obvious to everyone in the chain.

Plan for temperature and environment

Chilled despatch, condensation, dusty yards and outdoor storage all affect adhesion. Cold chain loads normally need a construction validated at the temperature the seal is applied at, not just stored at. See cold chain.
