Agriculture application
Product Sampling Secure Labels
Sealing grain and produce samples so the sample that is tested is provably the sample that was taken.
Sampling only carries weight if the chain from field or intake to laboratory is intact. Where a result affects payment, rejection or a contractual dispute, the question asked later is whether the sample could have been changed.
A numbered permanent label applied across the sample bag closure ties the physical sample to the record. If it arrives sealed with the number that was written down, the sample stands up.

What interference should reveal
A sample that cannot be quietly swapped
01
Sealed at source
The bag is closed and sealed with a numbered label; the number is recorded with the location, date and operator.
02
Interference attempted
The label is bonded across the fold or closure, so opening the bag has to break it.
03
Evidence remains
A void message stays on the bag and the label cannot be re-laid. A re-sealed sample shows a new number, not the original.
Real evidence
On the bag, part lifted, and voided

Product routes
Constructions used for this application
Permanent labels
The usual choice for sampling: the void message stays on the bag, so the evidence travels with the sample. Permanent labels.
Paper constructions
Where the sample bag and seal need to stay in a paper waste stream. Paper labels.
Numbering and write-on panels
Consecutive numbers plus a white panel for lot, location, date and initials written at the point of sampling. Custom labels.
Thermal printing
Where sample references are printed on demand rather than pre-printed. Direct thermal and thermal transfer constructions.
Application and integration
Sampling in the field and at intake
Applying in the field
Sampling is often done outdoors with gloves. Rolls, tab formats and label sizes are chosen so a seal can be applied and written on quickly, on a dusty or damp bag, without a bench.
Flexible surfaces
Sample bags flex and crease. Constructions are selected so the label follows the fold across the closure and still voids cleanly when lifted rather than peeling with the crease.
Recording the number
The consecutive number is the link between bag and record. Where samples are logged in a system, barcodes or QR codes can be printed so the seal is scanned rather than transcribed.
Laboratory receipt
Give the laboratory a simple acceptance rule: seal present, number matching, label undisturbed. Anything else is logged as an exception before testing starts.
